September 2–26: John Mock
John Mock is a self-taught artist based in Warsaw, Indiana. Having deep roots in Kosciusko County, he began his artistic journey in the 1960s and has been driven by a lifelong curiosity to create ever since. Over the decades, John has maintained a traditional, painterly approach, exploring diverse mediums like woodcarving, watercolor, and oil, before making acrylics his primary medium.
In recent years, a gradual loss of vision has beautifully evolved his artistic expression. Rather than stopping, John adapted by transitioning into abstract work, embracing the complete freedom of vivid color, shape, texture, and movement. What initially began as a challenge has opened the door to a deeply intuitive way of seeing, allowing him to navigate and communicate through pure impression and emotion.
John’s diverse portfolio stands as a powerful testament to a lifetime of creative dedication. John’s work represents not only a lifetime of artistic exploration but also the continued evolution of an artist who has never stopped learning, experimenting, and creating.
